About our academy

WE SPENT A LOT OF TIME IN MAKING THE DECISION TO INVEST IN AND BUILD THIS ACADEMY. WE SPENT THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME CHOOSING A NAME THAT REFLECTS OUR VISION.

"Socius" may refer to: Socii, of the Roman Republic in classical times. a Latin noun meaning "comrade, friend, ally" (adjectival form: socialis). It’s used to describe the bond between parties that are mutually working towards a shared goal.

When building a community, what matters is your common purpose, not your ancestry, gender, or religion.

Our purpose is to improve ourselves and help others do the same.

Therefore, we want people of all genders, abilities, ages, cultures and sexualities to feel welcome joining our community.

We do not tolerate:

GI policy

Socius BJJ Patches and GIs are 100% OPTIONAL!
While we encourage the traditional white, blue and black Gis we embrace our students choice to express themselves
So long as your Gi is in good condition (not ripped, etc.) you can wear it
Rashguards underneath are optional but encouraged

visitor policy (OUt of town)

Out of town visitors can come train for free during their stay
Visitors are encouraged to wear their own academy Gis if they like
Gi rentals can be made available by contacting us ahead of time

Visitors from other academies are always welcome!
Visitors are encouraged to wear their own academy gis if they like
Drop-in Fee: $20 for classes. $5+ donation for open mats (which all go to a local charity)
